The Wildlife Lighting Program was developed by the Department of the Interior’s U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission to address light pollution issues in ecologically sensitive areas while ensuring human safety and security.

Due to the human attraction to coastal living and recreation, along with the natural wildlife in these and other territories, it’s necessary to develop ways to coexist that are beneficial to all inhabitants. Wildlife uses their environment instinctively, as part of natures balance, with almost unnoticeable change. We as human inhabitants typically change or modify our environment to suit our own liking, making it even more relevant to give due consideration about the decisions we make to alter the natural environment and the effect it could have on an entire ecosystem.

Be aware of your environment. Be considerate of all inhabitants.
Respect nature. Be responsible and BE FRIENDLY!
